My name is Teresa Overall and I am a user of mental health services and associate trainer at Plymouth Mind. I have suffered from mental health disorders since I was 15 when I first became involved with the services in Surrey where I am from originally, and I have been in a out of services ever since. I have also self-harmed since I was 12 years old and I now use that experince to help educate people on self-harm through my role as associate trainer at Plymouth Mind where I provide courses on Understanding self-harm. Self-harm education has been my passion as all to often it is mis-understood, particularly amongst health service staff who view it as attention seeking and often have a negative attitude to those who use it as a coping strategy. I have a degree in Plant Science and have recently completed the City and Guilds qualification Award in education and training.
